NCL Increase Room Service Charge… But Drop Dining Prices by $0.05

Remember a few weeks ago, when we told you that Norwegian Cruise Line were bringing increased charges to room service menus? (You can read the article here.) Well this change, which was previously only made to the Norwegian Breakaway and Getaway as a test, has now been rolled out fleet wide. No matter what ship you sail on, you will have to pay $7.95 for each order placed. (Although you might be pleased to know that this charge excludes morning coffee or continental breakfast!) Room service orders will remain complimentary for those passengers that are booked into a suite or The Haven. The charges for speciality restaurants fleet wide have also been slightly changed. Cagney’s is now $29.95, instead of $30. Moderno Churrascaria is $19.95, instead of $20. Le Bistro now costs passengers $19.95, instead of $20. La Cucina is now priced at$14.95 from the previous $15. Two restaurants that have remain the same price are Ocean Blue at $39 and Teppanyaki at $25. All Asian speciality restaurants will now be complimentary. These prices do not include Norwegian Cruise Line’s 18% gratuity which is added to all beverage and dining packages and speciality restaurants. It has also been announced that the children’s prices to dine at speciality restaurants has been changed from half cover to full cover price. More Money Spent Updating Southampton Port

The Mayflower cruise terminal in Southampton has been given a facelift. Work has now been completed after a 6 million pound renovation effort. The terminal now features a larger passenger lounge, 36 check in desks and extra security lanes. The entrance and drop off and pick up areas have also been redesigned. Steven Young, the director of port services and government affairs at Carnival UK has said that they aimed to create “a stress-free travel experience” at Mayflower. NCL To Stop Charging For Speciality Restaurants

Norwegian Cruise Lines have today announced that all Asian style restaurants across their fleet will become complimentary as they invest in enhancing the dining experience for their guests. Restaurants effected by the move will be; Norwegian Breakaway & Norwegian Epic– Shanghai’s Noodle Bar Norwegian Jade –Jasmine Garden Norwegian Jewel– Chin Chin Norwegian Gem – Orchid Garden Norwegian Pearl – Lotus Garden Norwegian Star– Giza Norwegian Spirit– Shogun Norwegian Dawn– Bamboo Pride Of America– East Meets West All of the above restaurants previously had cover charges and items priced ala carte on their menus. Norwegian Cruises announced that its Teppanyaki restaurants will continue to carry a per-guest customer charge and sushi venues across the fleet will still have a nominal a la carte pricing. Room service charges have been upped however as a delivery to your room now costs $7.95 on board Norwegian Breakaway and $4.95 on board Norwegian Getaway where previously they only charged $3.95 per delivery from midnight to 5am and was free of charge in the day…could you argue that this will compensate for Norwegians generosity of offering complimentary dining? Norwegian Cruise’s have said they’ll wait to see the reaction from guests before going ahead and rising the room service prices across all of its fleet.
