Utopia Of The Seas Begins Five-Day Sea Trial

Royal Caribbean‘s newest ship, Utopia of the Seas, has begun a five-day sea trial as one of the last construction milestones before her debut later this year.

The sea trial comes just 10 weeks ahead of Utopia‘s debut in Port Canaveral (Orlando), Florida in July, where the ultimate short getaway will set sail to the open ocean for the first time.

Over 900 experts and specialists across areas in naval, architecture, engineering, navigation, and design are will push the ship to its limits, ensuring she is ready for smooth sailing after her launch. These teams will carry out hundreds of test and inspections, ranging from Utopia’s movement through open water to the operation of navigation systems and engine performance.

During the intensive five-day trial, Utopia of the Seas will cover over 1000 miles. Once completed, the final stage of construction will begin at the Chantiers de l’Atlantique shipyard in Saint-Nazaire, France.

As the first Oasis Class ship to debut with 3-night weekend and 4-day weekday voyages, from 19th July 2024, Utopia will welcome guests to make more memories than ever before for any occasion with shorter getaways at sea. From over 40 ways to drink, dine and party, to countless pools, the longest dry slide at sea, and show-stopping entertainment across air, ice, water and stage, all guests can enjoy their own version of the ultimate short getaway.

Extending the party from ship to shore, every voyage onboard Utopia of the Seas will also include a visit to Royal Caribbean’s award-winning private island in The Bahamas, Perfect Day at CocoCay. Here, guests can revel in thrills and chills with 14 waterslides, the largest freshwater pool in the Caribbean and The Bahamas, Hideaway Beach (an adults-only oasis), and more!
