What Does A Posh Balcony Look Like – Sneak View

When we’re off cruising there’s nothing we like better than a cabin with a balcony. Inside cabins are fine (with innovations such as Royal Caribbean’s Virtual Balcony are making the experience more comfortable than ever) and outside cabins are better but there’s still no replacement for a real balcony. The wind in your hair, the spray of the sea (or river!), it’s always an exhilarating experience to wake up and enjoy breakfast on your balcony with a different view each morning (on a river cruise you could even get multiple different views each day as you glide down the river). The real question is, which balcony is best? How can you choose? It gets even more complicated when you find out there’s different types of balcony cabins! If you picture a balcony cabin in your head we’re sure you’re thinking of french windows that open on to your own private balcony (and that would be correct for an ocean cruise). On a river cruise however you have something called a juliet balcony. Juliet Balconies… Juliet balconies are found on almost all river cruise ship. Even a giant floor to ceiling window that opens from the top, down to the bottom with a railing on the outside, when open transforming your entire cabin into a balcony – that’s a Juliet balcony! (Sometimes also known as French Balconies)   Which are...

Exclusive Interview with Jason Bradbury on Anthem Of The Seas

Royal Caribbean are (rightly) very proud of their Quantum class of ships; hailing them as the most technologically advanced ships at sea. To help champion their new design of ship they reached out to Jason Bradbury, presenter of Channel 5’s the Gadget Show and self confessed ‘tech geek’. He visited Quantum of the Seas with his family to see how this new technology all came together and with Anthem of the Seas sailing from Southampton we caught up with him to see what he though…   Jason Bradbury – Hello The www.CRUISE.co.uk team – Hi, is that Jason? Jason Bradbury– Yeah hi, how you doing? The www.CRUISE.co.uk team – Yeah we’re OK, yourself? Jason Bradbury – Great thanks. The www.CRUISE.co.uk team – Excellent.! Before we get started we’ve been told to apologise in advance in case we go all fan crazy on you; so if we do…. Jason Bradbury – Oh that’s all right, don’t worry about it man. The www.CRUISE.co.uk team – Well thanks for agreeing to this… Jason Bradbury – That’s OK. The www.CRUISE.co.uk team – So, we understand you haven’t cruised on Anthem of the Seas yet but you’ve been on Quantum of the Seas before, is that correct? Jason Bradbury – Yeah The www.CRUISE.co.uk team – We’ve seen you on YouTube talking about and it seems like you’re a massive fan; so given a free rein...

Where Will Granny Be Spending Her Pension Money?

Cruise holidays and buy to let properties are all expected to have a boost in popularity this year. Following new pension reforms in the UK savers will have more control than ever over their retirement funds. Cruises lines are expecting an extra $2.2 billion (£1.5billion) increase in sales that are believed to be stemming from the saving pots of pensioners, who are likely to be saving for a holiday of a lifetime. Huge changes to the rules of pension were announced by finance minister George Osbourne at the end of last year, finalised last month and finally we saw the effects kick in this week. The new scheme allows savers over 55 years of age to withdraw money from their pension plan. NAPF (The National Association of Pension Funds) have found from their research that a large majority of pension savers were feeling positive about the recent changes with 82% of 55-70 year olds for the enhanced freedoms. 435 of the 850 savers plan to cash out their taxable pension savings. Although 27% of these savers said they would like to spend this money on something indulgent, like a new car or a luxurious holiday, leaving the other 67% deciding to save it, invest it, or spend it gradually. The new changes will allow individuals their own freedom to cash out money from their savings and spend it whenever...
