Carnival Cruises To Rename Carnival Triumph In $200 Million Makeover

Carnival Cruises has just announced a $200 million makeover for Carnival Triumph which will include a rename to Carnival Sunshine.

The vessel’s two-month drydock will take place in Cadiz, Spain on March 1st next year and will join the line’s Sunshine class of ships.

The refurb will add Carnival’s most popular food, beverage, entertainment options aswell as an update to staterooms.

“The introduction of Carnival Sunrise will provide our guests with an array of exciting dining, bar and entertainment choices.

The new Carnival Sunrise is part of our multi-billion-dollar ship enhancement program that is transforming our fleet on an unprecedented scale,” said Christine Duffy, president of Carnival Cruise Line.

After a renaming ceremony, Carnival Sunrise will re-enter service on April 29th 2019, starting out with a series of five to seven-day voyages from Norfolk, VA.

Following this, the ship will operate a summer schedule of four to 14-day cruises from New York as of May 23rd 2019 and in October of 2019, Carnival Sunrise will reposition to Fort Lauderdale.

New enhancements to Carnival Sunrise will include:

-Redesign of two Captain’s Suites next to the navigational bridge

-Floor-to-ceiling windows and extended balconies in suites

-New Caribbean-inspired colours updated in all staterooms

-New food and beverage options including Cucina del Capitano, serving Italian classics in a family-style format

-JavaBlue Café will offer coffee house beverages, “spiked” coffees and pastries

-Fahrenheit 555 Steakhouse will serve American steakhouse fare

-Bonsai Express will offer sushi, sashimi and other delicacies in a more casual atmosphere

-Chef’s Table will be a new multi-course dining experience served in a glass-enclosed venue in the forward dining room

-Guy’s Pig & Anchor Bar-B-Que Smokehouse is an open-air eatery featuring BBQ favorites by Food Network star Guy Fieri

Carnival’s chief operating officer, Gus Antorcha, commented “These new dining spaces and features complement many of Carnival’s signature food and beverage outlets that were added during previous renovations, including Guy’s Burger Joint developed in tandem with Guy Fieri.

Bar and lounge options will include RedFrog Pub, Piano Bar 88, Limelight Lounge (home to the Punchliner Comedy Club) and the new Multi-Purpose Liquid Lounge

Entertainment venues will include SportSquare, an open-air recreation complex featuring a suspended ropes course with views of the sea; basketball and miniature golf.

The WaterWorks will include a 203-foot-long AquaTunnel slide, Twister Slide, a PowerDrencher tipping bucket and kid’s area and an adult-only retreat and expanded Cloud 9 Spa will also be part of the transformation.

Antorcha continued: “Carnival’s investments are part of an overall plan that is raising the bar on ship amenities and features, itineraries and offshore excursions that our guests are loving.”
