Silversea Lengthens One Of Their Ships After 450,000 Hours Of Work

Silversea has just undergone a great spectacle of naval engineering and begun the project of lengthening Silver Spirit.

The ship has been cut in two at Fincantieri Shipyard in Palermo as part of her planned lengthening and through her lengthening and extensive refurbishment, she will be brought to an exceptional standard of superlative comfort.

A prebuilt 15-metre (49-feet) segment has been inserted and the ship is now being reconnected.

The ship’s transformation got underway in Sicily on the 10th and 11th of March at two celebratory ceremonies where members of the international press and representatives of Silversea & Fincanctieri were welcomed by Leoluca Orlando, the Mayor of Palermo.

Silver Spirit’s enhancements will include:

-Increased choice of cuisine for diners as well as new menus

-Eight restaurants (previously six) will serve fine gastronomy and world-class wine

-A new and innovative space, the Arts Café will host an art exhibition and be a relaxed place for guests to unwind in the day and a lively cocktail lounge by night

-The Zagara Spa, a state-of-the-art spa concept that will offer guests the opportunity to indulge in luxurious treatments

-An enhanced layout and an improved entertainment programme in all areas

-The ship’s pool deck will be increased in size, creating more space for guests to relax and enjoy the sun

-Guest accommodation will be embellished with a new look and feel, which will replicate the successful design that is employed aboard Silver Muse
