Cruise Line Raises Gratuities For Second Time This Year

For the second time this year, Princess Cruises will raise the daily gratuities automatically charged to passengers’ onboard accounts. The new service charge is due to take effect on all cruises departing on or after the 15th of December and will increase from $12.95 to $13.30 per person, per day (including children) for interior, ocean view and balcony cabin passengers. The payment plan is the first at Princess to have mini-suites and suites in separate tiers; passengers of this class will no longer pay the same account of $13.95. P&O Announce Brand New Ship For 2020 Release

It has just been announced that Carnival Corporation & plc have signed an agreement on behalf of P&O cruises to build a brand new 180,000 ton ship, for release in 2020. It will be the largest ship built exclusively for the British market and will be able to accommodate 5,200 guests. P&O will be using their space on board wisely with a wide range of dining and entertainment options suggested. Cruise Ship Smashes A Pier And Ships In Messina

There was surprise this weekend after a large cruise ship crashed into a pier at Messina. The Carnival Vista was leaving the port when it reportedly got too close to the pier and the smaller boats that were docked next to it. The thrust from the ship then apparently caused the pier damage and swamped several of the small ships that were moored. Italian newspapers reporting on the event have stated that estimations of the damage caused by the ship are as high as 250,000 euros.
