It’s a Big Pink Bear!

Yep! That’s a great big pink Polar bear. On a cruise ship Oh, and did we say it’s pink? And big! Titled From Afar the www.CRUISE.co.uk team love this piece of artwork as we reported recently here. Whilst we’re massive fans of Lawrence Argent (creator of From Afar) we can’t help but feel he missed a trick with his brief from Royal Caribbean. If they really were looking for a giant, iconic statue that could be seen ‘from afar’ then we think they should have taken some inspiration from some famous statues from around the globe. What could say international cruise line better than some of these statues on their ship! We asked one of the guys in our graphics department to mock these images up  – Which is your favourite?   Over the last few years a lot of cruise lines have avoided going to Egypt (with all the political turmoil) so what could be better than bringing Egypt to you with this giant replica of the Sphinx on your cruise ship!                                       It’s a rare cruise ship that calls in at Easter Island – It’s just so far! So why not skip all that and bring Easter Island with you wherever you choose to cruise?     Royal Caribbean...

Food Fight! Dynamic vs Freestyle Dining

It seems that Royal Caribbean have hopped onto the cruising bandwagon that Norwegian Cruise Lines initiated back in 2000 with the Freestyle Dining option and have said a fond farewell to the traditional dining that their cruisers have been used to until now. Whilst the concept of Dynamic Dining isn’t fleet-wide (yet), it is something that both the Quantum-class ships, and the Oasis of the Seas are currently launching, with hope for it to spread to Allure of the Seas (likely during her stint in dry docks in spring 2015) and possibly beyond in time. Both of these cruising giants are offering a dining experience that provides the utmost in flexibility and control. Whilst going ‘freestyle’ with food isn’t for everyone – and some will mourn the loss of the grand Opus Main Dining Room on Oasis of the Seas, it’s testament to the tides are turning; after all, it’s the 21st century and Royal Caribbean and Norwegian Cruise Line are two fleets that are notorious (in a good way – not in an Al Capone way!) for driving their fleets and cruising concepts forward. You just have to look at the new Quantum of the Seas with its hi-tech bells and whistles to see that (robot bartenders, anyone?)! Royal Caribbean’s  Dynamic Dining and Norwegian Cruise Line’s Freestyle Dining are two of the big contenders in the cruising world of unconventional...

Quantum of the Seas: 11 Reasons to Get Excited

Not long to wait now, cruise fans! At the end of this month, on 31st October, Royal Caribbean’s Quantum of the Seas, sister ship to currently-waiting-in-the-wings Anthem of the Seas, will finally take to the waters and she’s guaranteed to be brimming with treats for a Halloween launch! She’ll shore up close to home in Southampton, ready for her maiden 2 Nov voyage to Bayonne, New York, for the start of her 2014-15 winter season visiting some of the Caribbean’s hottest spots. Lucky Quantum. Needless to say, at www.CRUISE.co.uk we’re wet our pants excited! While the first member of the tech-advanced, innovative Quantum-class may be permanently relocating to Shanghai after her inaugural 2014-15 season, her twin-sister, Anthem of the Seas, will be joining her on the water in April 2015 and we are super-chuffed to know that she’ll be staying close and cruising from Southampton. First thing’s first though – the Quantum of the Seas. She’s billed as the world’s most revolutionary and advanced ship, and while she’s not quite as big as the Oasis class liners (at 167,800 tons versus Oasis of the Seas 225,282 tons, Quantum is actually 5,000 double decker buses lighter!), she makes up for it in features. After all, it’s quality, not quantity – and Quantum class ships will make every ton count. Here are 11 reasons why you should be as excited as...

Oasis Dining Goes Dynamic!

As she’s been sitting pretty over the past couple of weeks in the dry docks in Rotterdam, Royal Caribbean’s Oasis of the Seas has had a bit of a make over. She’s just been released from refurb, looking especially fabulous and whilst some of the exciting new features installed include faster internet, new shops, a new Broadway show and some new suites and cabins, it’s the new Dynamic Dining concept that has rolled out onto her decks which really tickled and tantalised our tastebuds. Until now, it’s only the Royal Caribbean new ships on the block Quantum and Anthem of the Seas that would be incorporating this unconventional dining concept into their daily routine but as of March 2015, Dynamic Dining will be present onboard the Oasis of the Seas too (and will also spread to the Allure of the Seas and beyond as part of the Royal Caribbean’s Royal Advantage Program). As part of the upheaval, the liner has said a fond farewell to the traditional main dining room that has fed thousands of guests over the years (sob!) and instead will welcome a myriad of restaurants at which diners can choose to dine, depending on where their tastebuds take them. It’s a revolutionary system that aims to give cruisers as much flexibility and choice as possible. Whilst the main Dining Room of old was a popular hangout,...
