The Volga is the longest river in Europe, originating in the Valday Hills; it flows 2,300 miles before emptying into the Caspian Sea, with eleven out of the twenty largest cities situated in the Volga Basin, including the capital Moscow.
The Volga is the centre of a network of waterways which enables many river cruise passengers to discover the Russian Federation throughout. Connecting to the River Neva by Lake Ladoga, gives the opportunity to explore the peerless cultural and architectural treasures of St. Petersburg as well as the iconic sights of Moscow and the ‘Golden Ring’ cities of Uglich and Yaroslavl. The Volga-Baltic waterway connects to the Volga though Lake Onega. This connection through a system of river and canal links the Volga River to the Baltic Sea. Spanning 229 miles and including seven locks, the waterway starts in Rybinsk and flows along the Svir and Neva Rivers before emptying into the Gulf of Finland, an arm of the Baltic Sea, at St. Petersburg.
We have just returned

have been ok for an
overnight crossing on a
ferry which is what the
