Overview: This handsome-looking mid-size ship suits middle-aged and older UK and Scandinavian passengers who want to cruise in a casual, unstuffy environment, in a ship with British food and entertainment. It’s a refreshing change for those who don’t enjoy larger, warehouse-size ships. But it does r

Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines is all about tradition and as a family-run company with a long shipping heritage, the moment you step aboard either Balmoral, Braemar, Black Watch or Boudicca you are greeted with a personal and friendly service, which then continues throughout your cruise.
Fred. Olsen’s ships are large enough to be spacious and uncrowded, but still small enough to be the kind of place where you can feel comfortable, relaxed and able to put your feet up. Their size advantage means they can take you to places that some of the mammoth cruise ships can’t, close to the heart of some of the world’s most beautiful cities and breathtaking landscapes.
On board you'll find everything you need for an unforgettable holiday, including a selection of bars, restaurants, lounges, shops, a salon & gym, swimming pools and even golf nets, where you can practice your swing on days at sea. With fewer guests, not only will you enjoy a more personal experience, you'll find you won't be fighting for space with thousands of others.
Cruise with Fred. Olsen and you'll enjoy great value with so much included in the price. So you can relax knowing that once you've booked your cruise holiday, almost everything's covered. You'll also find that the optional on board extras that are chargeable - such as wine, drinks and salon treatments - are reasonably priced and in Sterling, so you don't have to worry about exchange rates.
Now you can save even more with Fred. Olsen's 'All Inclusive' Upgrade. Now only £10 per person per night, on many 2015/16 cruise holidays. You’ll be able to enjoy selected beers, wines, spirits and soft drinks all day and evening. What’s more, many premium drinks and cocktails are available at half price too so you won't have to worry about your bar bill, or having that extra drink.
Experience for yourself the Fred. Olsen difference.

This is the story of how a cruise started off just about as badly as it could have, but then eventually won us round despite the poor start .... First off: All the things we found less than wonderful. Prior to booking this cruise, we had watched a Sunday evening TV programme (The Cruise) featuring one of Fred Olsen's ships. It looked pretty dire, and the cabins and entertainment were unimpressive, to say the least. We thanked our lucky stars we had not found ever ourselves on THAT ship! Fast forward to the summer of 2014, and we were looking for a last minute break for ourselves and my recently-widowed father in law. The itinerary offered on Balmoral to the Baltic looked...
