BLYTH - Answered a Question by Lavelle-Counsell (24 Jan 09 13:48)

Yes in 1997 we had a stromy patch and had to miss out St. Maartens and in 2004 our 25th wedding anniversary was wiped out with two weeks of bad hurricanes, but you could find that the Caribbean will be fine and if necessary as with us in 1997 the ship will move out of the area returning after the storm has passed. We were lucky on the 1997 trip as we did the island we missed twice so although we missed it in the first week we still did visit it in the 2nd.

Thanks for your answer. We can appreciate there might be difficult weather conditions but it is good too know that it's just one of those things if we are unlucky with the weather as I have read some of the reviews and it can happen any time. It's interesting to know the ships tactics in the situation. We are still looking forward to it and take it as it comes.

I too am on Liberty in September and have had the same worries. Like you there have been many people who have put my mind at ease saying that any storm is usually short lived, and we would be extremely unlucky to have to ride out a hurricane. I guess the onboard activities will have to do if it rains, but hopefully we will get to lounge on the deck and get some of the caribbean sun. Fingers crossed hey..

Neil & Ida Down - Answered a Question by Lavelle-Counsell (25 Jan 09 16:15)

These ships are worth a fortune and the people on them even more so no one will deliberately put either at risk. Being at sea always has a certain amount of risk but if you can accept that there may be a change in the itinerary and occasionally some extra lumps in the water then your expectations should and could be high. It will depend on weather systems which for the last four years have not been anything like the norm. LOS is a great ship and you should have a super time. .... Neil.

Many thanks for your answer. I think that we can accept that the weather will do its own thing and that intineraries will change. I was just trying to find out other people's experiences if they have travelled in the September period. We have stayed in Barbados in September and although we had rain it was only for short periods and soon dried up. I am glad you mentioned that LOS is a great ship as this is our first cruise with RCL and I am sure by the reviews that we will have a good time....Kate & Philip.
