When you have been on a Royal Navy Ship when it is rough you notice it. We went on the Coral Princess in march 07 and had one day of rough seas, there was slight movement but nothing to worry about. The stabilisers are used as soon as the ship leaves port, if they don't work the ship would not be allowed to leave port.

Must say I'm afraid we are not keen on the Sea Princess at all.We feel that it is badly in need of refurbishment and Princess seem to be trying to make this a 'British' ship. we find cruises more interesting with a mix of nationalities. We were on Sea Princess earlier this year, in the Caribbean. We were lucky to have near perfect weather and so did not notice any swell.

I did the transatlantic crossing on Sea Princess in April 2007 and it was very smooth the whole trip except for one night when we had just left Antigua. Also, it is usually quite rough as you leave Miami and I have always felt seasick no matter what ship I was on.I have no idea how rough the Baltic is though-but I will find out when I go in September.

Hi, we have been on sea princess twice - once from new york around the coast and into canada and once fin the caribbean and we had no problems - if you are concerned choose a cabin mid ships on a lower dec.

Unfortunately the Sea Princess (ex Adonia) was built for Caribbean cruising and has a reputation for not fairing well in rougher climates! It also has a reputation for engine trouble, but don't let any of that spoil your cruise. Just take it as it comes. I'm sure you paid a good price for your cruise? £850 for a 14 cruise on this ship is not unusual. Happy cruising.

We cruised the ned last summer on Sea Princess. Don't know if the stabilizers were broken, but yes we had a few quite rough nights. Fortunately we don't mind. In fact it rocks me to sleep :-).

We went on the Sea Princess in March on the Grand Caribbean cruise and we had a 24 hour passage in a big South Atlantic swell (5 meters) and with the stabilisers fully deployed the ride was not too bad. With a big swell you have to expect some movement.

In Sept 2007 we did repositioning Cruise from Southampton to Quebec calling into Bergen,Lerwick,Faroes,Iceland,Greenland,Newfoundland.Weather was so rough pieces of funnels blew off, cordoned off all around!!Ship perfectly safe and nice size of ship.Furniture in the cafeteria was in real need of not only shampooing but in replacing seats etc.Numerous Americans did not bother to change from their daytime shorts and tops despite a request that such clothing was not worn. What was of more concern were the passengers-old enough to know better deliberately crept in via another door to escape seeing them washing their hands each time going into cafeteria each mealtime.Real health hazard,as in all Cruise ships-it is the people who cause fast developing noro-virus.We brought it to the attention of the Duty Officers but was not actioned by them as said very difficult making people do things. No doubt due to Americans trigger happy to sue anybody and anything. Two other things happened of interest during heavy weather periods-and we had more than our fair share, one couple complained of noises above them, tracked down eventually when a piece of metal piping which was loose was found the cause.second couple asked us if it was normal for the mirror in the cabin to flex!!One final point, had to complain to Maitre'd as we found too much salt was put into the vegetables and causes tongues to flare up.Hope not frightened you too much.Mike Price.

Most times when the stabalizers dont work its because the captain doesnt want then to work but always remember when at sea in bad weather the Captain will always want to look after his vessell and as you are on it that also means yo.

Small ships are wanted!!

By Neil Holmes

P&O have announced that their small ship Adonia is to return to their 2017/2018 season. The ship was much loved by the P&O faithful and when she left the fleet to help with humanitarian work overseas there was a big hole to fill as many of the P&O fleet are larger ships and P&O were losing some of their passengers to cruise & Maritime and Fred Olsen. From June 2017 she will start Mediterranean, round Britain and even an Iceland sailing. The smaller more interesting ports w...

Five Of My Favourites !

By Camilla Edwards

Camilla Edwards's blog

Well its very nearly Christmas and all I wish for now is some snow! Walking the dog this morning everywhere was frosty and white, made me really feel in the festive spirit. One of the best things personally at this time of the year is the food and celebrations associated with Christmas and New Year, so this week I have decided to blog about 5 of my favourite places to eat. Some on cruise ships, some not.Fed Olsen Balmoral. I always enjoy the food on Fred`s ships and Balmoral last year was no...

Adonia makes a comeback

By Ruth Gale

Ruth Gale's blog

Great news from P&O that the very popular Adonia will be returning to their fleet next year. With ships getting bigger and bigger it is getting very difficult to find suitable cruises for the many people that still prefer the smaller more intimate ships like Adonia.Adonia previously left the fleet to operate Fathom cruises designed for voluntary tourism. Passengers were taken to destinations to help teach English or to help on building projects. It was a great idea but the ship was sadly m...
