$10pp pd is added to your on board account. Why would you even considerer not paying the staff their well-deserved tips.

The new terms & conditions of NCL state the autotip has been replaced by a non removable service charge. They openly admit this is due to, too many people removing the 'old' autotip, & less openly admit that the the British are among the worst offenders. Surely this is telling them something? We don't like being told how to spend our money.Unfortunately these cruise boards should contain a health warning to people who ask anything relating to tipping, as some posters circle like vultures to attack their prey. The truth is, their views on tipping are in the minority when it comes to Brits on cruise ships as the need for NCL's policy shows. There is a get out clause in their T's & C's that states in the event of a dispute the service charge may be reduced or removed. Hope that answers your question.

Yes, you do have to pay. On all NCL ships, there is a pre paid service charge of $10 per passenger per day. ( for children 3 - 12 $5 per passenger per day) You can also pre pay these tips before you go, £5.50 per passenger per day, £2.75 for children 3-12.

Watching the Royal wedding this weekend, and looking at the lovely outfits, I started to think about what I am going to pack for my Azamara cruise next week. Choosing an outfit for any special occasion can be daunting, and time consuming, and a Royal Wedding must be stressful to say the least but packing, for a holiday is another thing altogether! The first cruise I ever went on was Fred Olsen Braemar sailing from Southampton. Packing for that was easy, just take everything you want as there i...
