The answer to your question is Yes,it is berthed next to "Britannia" and when it sets sail it goes through a lock out into the "North" sea!
We did a cruise from Leith to Norway last year. The Cruise terminal is right next to Brittannia - you get a good view once on board. The whole experience from parking the car to getting on board was first class. As we live only 30 minutes away it was so nice to get off the ship and drive home rather than hanging around a London airport waiting for a flight back to Edinburgh.
Thank you! We are probably going to stay at the Holiday Inn Waterfront the night before and I understand it is opposite the Ocean Terminal/Cruise Terminal.
My wife and I are also sailing from Leith in July ( it may even be the same cruise your going on 4/7/09) , I decided why not push the boat out so to speak.. I have booked a room at Malmaison Edninburgh it's located right at the cruise terminal, .
Thank's for your reply, We are already pushing the boat out! (so to speak) as we are actually doing 2 cruises! leaving Leith the 23rd July (9 nights) and 1st August (4 Nights) spending 2 nights in Edinburgh at the beginning and 2 nights in Newcastle at the end of the cruise! Hope you enjoy Malmaison!
A dedicated cruise terminal building was opened in 2006 at Leith Western Harbour, next to the Royal Yacht Britannia and Ocean Terminal Shopping Mall. The terminal is 15 minutes via public transport from the city centre and connections to Edinburgh Airport and features 370m of quayside, large car parking and coach handling areas. Leith Docks’ operator Forth Ports has tabled plans to build a new cruise liner terminal by 2009 for vessels larger than 50,000 tonnes.
