Unless its a public holiday yes ,when a ships in port they open up, they rely on tourist to make living.

Yes, and the Caribbean is more religious than the UK. Just might be limitations esp shops Easter Sunday - St Lucia that day? - but I doubt you'll have a problem with taxis or with the decent selection of shops in the duty-free terminal. ............. there's no significant museums etc (? check out St Lucia's drive-in volcano, I think it's govt-run) ......... St Maarten is the only excellent shopping out of the four - and I'm guessing that's the saturday so I don't see a problem. ......... Chris.
