RCI still use the 'opt in' system for grat's. Part way through the cruise a form will be delivered to your cabin with the option of adding the grat's to your cruise account. You can tick the boxes as per suggested rate or add or subtract as you wish. If you do nothing with the form, envelopes will be delivered to your cabin for you to tip in the 'old fashioned way' Regards Wilba.
When you booked did you check whether or not you have prepaid the gratuities? Most T/A will ask if you wish NOT to prepay but some dont ask and you may have already had them included in with the cost of your booking. (If you booked online direct with RC then they would be included) I would check this out first, then you can go for the options that Wilba states.
Thanks so much to you both for your replies, much apprieciated. Have checked and no prepayment has been put on my bill. I booked through Iglu. Will probley wait for the envolopes as i like to know who i am tipping and why.
About 2 days before the end of the cruise RCI has a whole channel dedicated to the giving of tips and what happens during disembarkation which you can view in your cabin. If you have not pre-paid, its best to check with Guest Relations that they have not added the gratuities onto your sea pass account. Then on the last evening, you'll get envelopes in your room for tips for the Head Waiter, Main Waiter, Assistant Waiter & Room Steward and you'll just give these in person to them as you wish.
Unless RCI have changed their policy on gratuities in the very recent months, they do not add them automatically to your sea pass account. If this were the case it would have been well documented on this site, & also, there is no need to queue up at the GR desk to check, as all your account info is on your cabin TV menu.
