BLYTH - Answered a Question by Harvey (24 Jan 09 15:41)

The Staff Captain is responsiblke for the staff and issue of discipline so he should find out who this is and with his chum arrange to mee with him to discuss the problems. A ward of warning though, if passengers do get the worse of drink they can be put in the brig and then taken off by the police at the next port of call, given some of the problems over Christmas I should think P & O should not take this ligthly but wait and see if any contributor comes up with other options, best of luck.

I am not sure what they call them...but equivalent of passenger services manager or director. I would ask for an appointment with such a person, and he should get a very different response. Alternatively, the cruise director is usually in charge of entertainment staff. This is a very serious allegation....and needs addressing. Tell him to make a formal request...if necessary in writing to speak to...., and keep the names of anyone who refuses this. Good luck.

You do not say which ship he is on if it is the dreaded ventura I would imagine through the last few weeks of complaints on this ship it could well be that they have been told to stop the partying. I have been on ships before were there have been complaints of this kind and what I have known to happen is the people accused have been off loaded and have to make their own way home, but usually it is only after being in the cells under house arrest that this happens it does not seem as if your son has been arrested over anything he has been accused of so I would not think there is anything to worry about, tell your son to be very careful and stay clear of the venues if at all possible what one person thinks is ok another does not.

Do not know which ship they are on. But you are right. After the problems on Ventura and all the negative reviews it is good to see that these problems are being taken seriously. Two young lads away from parents may or may not have acted irresponsibably. They need to keep their heads down and enjoy the cruise be slightly less party animals and respect other people. Sure they could enjoy themselves. But dont leave Mum and Dad to pick up the bill. Hope Mum and Dad dont get other phone calls at unearthly hours. Good Luck!

Whilst I have said about contacting the Staff Captain it might be in the light of day the problem might not seem so bad or gone away. but just in case I did have a look at the P & O guidance and it does rather say the same as I quoted - "Appropriate behaviour Whilst we encourage you to enjoy your cruise, please try to avoid making excessive noise in your cabin or in the passenger corridors, to ensure the comfort of other passengers. If you seriously inconvenience or jeopardise the safety or enjoyment of any passengers on board, the Captain has the right to confine or disembark you in the next port of call. P&O Cruises accepts no liability for this serious action or for any loss incurred (including repatriation expenses) and no refunds are available. Please refer to your Passage Conditions for further details.".

The ships staff are really doing there duty by warning your son that a potential problem can be avoided Have there been of any complaints from the parents of the teenagers, if there are none, he should put it down as a lesson of life learnt, but if there are complaints from the parents he should stay well away from both the parents & teenagers.

Agree with you. No member of the crew would make allegations of misconduct without reason. Its more than their jobs worth. Hope for their sakes he did nothing wrong.
