Do your homework first as to where you want to visit books i found useful are footprint Caribbean Islands. And Caribbean Portof call by Fodors. the taxi drivers will try and get you to go on the regular tour but are happy to do what you want as long as you stick to your guns. In Barbados we had a taxi for a whole day for 4 and it came to £80. We were told that Uncle Harry in Barbados was very good but he was the coordinator on the day but he arranged for another lady to come and look after us. Do not worry about if your taxi brakes down as they all help each other out. Hope you have a lovely time we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.
2 1/2 hour tour on Granada 50 USD per taxi for upto 4 persons
book the 2 stop Snorkle in Bonair 49.00 USD per person on the Boat breathtaking fish well worth it
We did the dolphin experiance in Tortola booked through the ship but I think you can do it independantly but its not much cheaper
Taxi fairs on Aruba are shown on a board at the port BEWARE price to beach was shown as 8.00 USD per taxi but they wanted to charge 15.00 when we queried it with the Security guy we were told the prices were out of date after a bit of banter between the Security and taxi Driver the driver confirmed the price was 8.00 USD !!!!!!!!!!
It is easy to find recommendations of local tour operators, which will be cheaper than a taxi - if you look in the right place - go to a browser and enter 'message grenada cruise' and the first link returned should give you all the info you need. Repeat as necessary for each island.
Regarding Taxi Fares.Normally they are quite reasonable. But we found some Taxi Drivers in St Lucia intimidating. In Aruba and Barbados the Public Bus is dirt cheap.
When last in St Lucia together with friends we booked Cosol Tours on Line.I believe the cost is now $55 per head for a full day/Island tour. This includes Snacks,Cake,Local Bread and Cheese,Fruit Mangoes bananas an on board Bar [Rum Punch Beer soft drinks water etc.Entrances fees to the Vulcano and gardens is also included as is a beach break. We have booked again for next year.
