Hi Carnegie - I am from Markinch - we usually pay by credit card at the end of the voyage because you can only use your cruise card on the ship and not cash - until the end when you can clear you bill by credit card, cheque or cash. I would think that they would take Scottish notes but we usually make the effort and take English as you can then use them in any of the ports of call to change into Euros/dollars etc.
