Try the Holiday Inn in Southampton. It may not be the absolute cheapest, but the rooms are large with plenty of room for baggage, food good at breakfast.

IBIS Novotel is opposite dock gates 10 where RCI Navigator docked, not sure exactly where QM2 docks but can't be too far away. Around £60 roo.

There are no cheap hotels in Southampton. The demand created by the large number of cruise liners visiting the port see to that. Try various web booking agencies... you should be able to find around £50-60 and maybe get breakfast included. If you are coming by car, avoid Jury's Inn as there is no car park. I've found Novotel to be consistently cheap... and it's within walking distance to shops and restaurants.

Hi there. I guess it really depends on what you mean by "Cheap" - The lowest price I have paid was at the Holiday Inn Express (Southampton West) but to be honest, it was little more than a room. If you are prepared to pay around £80 or so (per room), I can recommend The Holiday Inn (Southampton), The Ibis Hotel (Southampton) and The Novotel (Southampton). All three are situated on the docks and perhaps even more importantly, the city centre of Southampton is only 5 minutes walk away meaning that there is much more choice in regard to food options in the evening - indeed, the obligatory 'Wetherspoons' is within a 10 minute walk. In addition, the facilities are much more comfortable at all three hotels. Whatever happens, I hope you have a fantastic journey aboard the most beautiful ship in the world .

The Premier Travel Inn is the cheapest and closest with comfort, just behind the road from Dock Gate Four, but if you really want cheap and comfort of a sorts try going online to and checking out their supersavers rooms and savers rooms from £15 per room. have fun in the su.

Dont miss your ship.

By Dawn Gardener

For some reason, there seems to be more and more stories of cruise guests missing their ship when in port. I am on several cruise pages via Facebook and have heard this a lot recently where guests comment on how the ship departed leaving guests on shore because they didn’t get back in time. Last year there was the famous you tube video going around of the couple that left their kids on the ship whilst they went on shore and then missed it as it departed from Nassua with her screami...

Are cruise lines becoming sexist

By Ruby Perkins

Last week Aqua Expedition launched a new sensation but only for us ladies I’m afraid. They have come up with the idea of offering cruises just for ladies. They state……..‘With these cruises, women will have the chance to learn about new cultures and traditions whilst meeting new people who share the same excitement for adventure, whilst being able to enjoy a little bit of luxury at the same time.’Now forgive me for being a little lost with this fantastic opportunit...
