It's 14 miles to Cork from Cobh (the port of Cork) by cab or 25 minutes by train.

The train station is about 100 yards away from where we were berthed.

Cork is about a 20 minute train from Cobh. The ship docks right at the train station and it's about €14pp round trip. You buy a return ticket from the booking office on the platform. Trains leave at 7, 7;30, 8, 8;30 etc and take 24mins Return trains go on the hour 3p, 4p etc From Cork into centre of town it is a 5-8 min walk ,follow other travellers, .

You can see the train station at Cobh (Cove ) from the ship and it's very cheap to travel, and a nice little journey. The station staff at Cork were very helpful and polite, and you'll get a lovely welcome and send off from the people at Cobh as the ship leaves. The gift shops at the quay get long queues before the ship is due to leave, so buy early. Nice little pub there too where you can sit outside if the weather's nice and have a Murphy's and atch the ship. Enjoy your trip.

Dont miss your ship.

By Dawn Gardener

For some reason, there seems to be more and more stories of cruise guests missing their ship when in port. I am on several cruise pages via Facebook and have heard this a lot recently where guests comment on how the ship departed leaving guests on shore because they didn’t get back in time. Last year there was the famous you tube video going around of the couple that left their kids on the ship whilst they went on shore and then missed it as it departed from Nassua with her screami...

Were Turning Japanese!

By Collette Apak

Collette Apak's blog

Over the last couple of years we have seen a huge rise in the number of people booking cruises that visit Japan. Maybe it’s the fact that many people have done the Mediterranean & Caribbean itineraries and are now wanting to look at somewhere different or whether a certain Joanna Lumley has prompted people’s interest after her TV series? Who knows? But in answer to this demand we are celebrating all things Japanese this week. I would certainly like to take a trip there and see...
