Q: We are sailing from Hong Kong to Singapore in early October and would like to know how many "formal" nights there are likely to be during the 12 day cruise.
Would I be correct to assume that general dress code for evening meals would be smart casual, i.e. dress trousers and an open-necked shirt, or are we talking jacket, shirt and tie?
Some guidance would be appreciated.

Hi Silversea cruises tend to be one of the most formal cruise lines. I would guess you will likely have three or possibly four formal nights on a 12 day cruise. The rest of the cruise will be split fairly evenly between informal attire (jacket/suit and tie) and smart casual. The vast majority of passengers will adhere to the suggested dress code and it is difficult to be over dressed. I'm sure you will have a great holiday. The company does go that "extra mile" to make sure you have a great holiday. Although many of the "extras" are not advertised unless you are told about them or enquiry eg if you have a favourite course, the galley will prepare it especially for you, if you ask the day before (I don't use this service myself because the food is usually very good, however, the menus can appear to be fairly eccentirc but the food produced turns out well).
