Q: I am sailing on the MSC Melody in August on the Italy, Greece, Turkey, Israel and Egypt Cruise. I will have my two teenage sons with me 16 and 14, given the heat in the Eastern Med at that time of year I am thinking it might be hard to get them out of their shorts, can anyone tell me what the expected dress code is for teenage boys? 3 answers

It will not be hot on the ship. Air conditioning keeps everywhere cool so no need to just wear shorts..Carol

I assumed your question was about the dress code on board ship. If so, I am sure that teenage boys would be expected to conform to the rule of no shorts in the main dining room.

It depends on where you are visiting. For example if you are going into any churches or mosques it is customary to make sure that legs and shoulders are covered. In Rome for the Vatican long shorts which go below the knee are acceptable. So providing they have sensible T shirts (not vest type) and the long shorts which the teenagers seem to like anyway then you should be ok. Failing that my son has been quite happy to go ashore in his trendy jeans.
