Thank you for the information, very helpful. One other question, the cruise ship will be using tenders from the ship to the shore at Flam. Have you experienced this, if so how did you manage and did you have a powered wheelchair.

My own experience of Norway and a wheelchair was marvelous. We have both cruise holidays and an escorted coach holiday. We travelled on the Flam Railway with a manual wheelchair and we ( use the Royal We) didn't encounter any problems at all, in fact the transport system in Norway is very wheelchair friendly. From our own experience of the public transport and that includes service buses and ferries easily acsessed. The buses are same as they are in some of our town ie. the platform is lowered at the bus stops. We travelled on the normal ferries and also on the "Fast Ferry" which if I remember rightly is a Hydrofoil. So enjoy your holiday in a wonderful country.
