The standard tippings are already allocated as 11 - 13 USD per person per day (depending on grade) and are added to your onboard account. You can easily opt out of this by going to the pursuers desk during your stay and opting out of the tippings, you will be surprised how many people do this.(don't leave it till the last day though as your account should have been finalised) Alot of the fellow passengers we spoke to, actually did this as they preferred to tip on an individual basis and at the amount that they chose. We gave the standard tippings of 11 USD each per night, so it is entirely up to the individual. The benefit of this is that envelopes were not left in our room for additional tippings or anything like that, it was done and dusted!
Please note that a 15% surcharge is automatically added to your drinks bill and this is not optional.(as far as i am aware).

Thank you for the advice it is very helpful I could not find any reference at all in Cunards Q/A Section on Tipping I guess this is a subject just a little to delicate to tackle. I note that quite a few people have looked at your advice so Im pleased its not only me who thinks about Tips.

I must admit not been on the QM2 but on the other ships we do the auto option but on the last night we have always had the envelope still to hand to the Stateroom staff/Waiter and Assistant so the ones we would have been tipping anyway, so not sure what the problem is. These are your main contacts and on odd ocassions there might be one or two others and even with the auto system we have still added more as the service we received from some was second to none.
