Cologne boasts eight Christmas Markets, four of which are near the cathedral. The most impressive is the one spread out below the cathedral, with the largest Christmas tree in the Rhineland and over 150 wooden chalets selling a huge selection of gifts.

We cast off early this morning to reach Koblenz, on the confluence of the Rhine and Moselle Rivers, where a traditional Christmas Market is held in the picturesque old town. A wealth of events are usually held in the town including concerts and carriage rides.
