A Jewel Of A River Cruise

I have never fancied a river cruise, Yes, I guess I am technically in the correct age bracket, I do love history and visiting different places but a river cruise?  Never appealed.

I have however been proved wrong!  I recently completed a great seminar on Emerald Waterways who are Europe’s newest river cruise fleet, I have to tell you I am very impressed.

Emerald currently have two ships the Star and the Sky.  Both are so very stylish and contemporary.

Nearly all of the cabins have balcony’s.  One of the features I really like is if it is raining, there is a button you press on the balcony, press that and hey presto it becomes a window!, therefore keeps the rain off you while you can still sit on the balcony – what a great idea!

Another fantastic feature on these ships is a pool! That is me sorted! The pools are not huge but a great idea to cool down from that sun. Now for the X factor, it is a pool by day but at night the floor rises up, the water is drained away and the whole area becomes a cinema! This seats approx 30 guests, the screen comes down and you even get a bowl of popcorn to enjoy the film.

The ships take approx 182 guests along with 47 crew members. The crew are all English speaking and score very high on customer service – 95% to be exact! Meals are all included along with complimentary beer and wine with lunch and dinner. Gratuities are also included in the price.  There is even a wellness and hairdressing salon as well as a small gym, if you can drag yourself away from the pool that is!

If you do fancy upgrading to a suite no problem, there are 12 of these on board.  60 cabins have balcony, even the inside cabins are not really inside as they do have a window high up on the wall. There are 20 of these.  Single travellers have not been forgotten either, there are 2 single cabins on each ship.
