Land Or Sea?

I have recently returned from my summer holidays.  This year we decided to not go on a cruise or further afield, and just fly a couple of hours to Majorca.

I have been to Majorca many times and enjoyed it, but this year, not so much. Nothing to do with the hotel which was very nice, nor the room which had lovely sea views or even the fact that we were in the minority of English speaking guests.  Truth is I missed cruising, missed seeing a new destination every day, the food, and the great entertainment on board!

When I got back to work on Saturday, I found out that Royal Caribbean are selling all inclusive for a limited time – wow, because the cruise I fancy next year is with them – get in there!  Look at what you get compared to a land based holiday.

On a land based holiday you either have bed and breakfast, half board or full board.  Entertainment in the hotels are usually very poor (mine was!)  If you want to do any activities you usually have to pay for them, plus you are limited to spending all your holiday in that resort unless you take various excursions around about.

Cruising Holidays offer so much more.  Okay you get your full board meals which you can get in a hotel but on top of that you also get afternoon teas, snacks by the pool, midnight buffets to die for and the opportunity to eat at any of the speciality restaurants on board, IE – Marco Pierre White, Jamie Oliver etc.  On the Royal Caribbean cruise I am looking at, all beer, wine and soft drinks are included in the price – a fantastic saving.  Evening entertainment is like going to a west end show every single evening!  You don’t get that in any hotel in Majorca!!!

Then look at all the day time activities you get which are all included in the price! – cinema, ice skating, mini golf, rock wall, sauna, flow rider, sports court, water park, whirl pools, zip line to name but a few!

Remember, every single day you are waking up to a new destination it could be Rome, Venice, Barcelona, Monte Carlo, Athens, Dubrovnik, I could go on!  I personally think the excursions are great value for money as you can choose from a full day or maybe just a few hours to get the feel of a place.  If you don’t want to go on a excursion, you can always get off the ship and have a browse about on your own.

In summary, for the future, Keith and I wont be going on a hotel based holiday – even he has to admit it is just not the same!
