When Was The Last Time You Checked Your Passport?

Are you like me? The only time I check when my Passport runs out is when I am stood in a queue waiting to check in for either a flight or my cruise. Then as soon as the holiday is over, it gets put back in the drawer and only comes out again when I am away on my next trip.

If you are travelling within the next few weeks and are unsure about when it expires, I suggest you go an look now.

I have just read an article that states that MP’s are to quiz the head of the Passport Service over long delays in issuing Passports.

According the the Home Office, it’s the fault of our improving economy – what do they want? A triple dip or would it be a quadruple dip recession – I have lost count, and the travel industry get’s some of the blame as well – it get’s blamed for most other things so why not delays at the Passport Office? Apparently, this year there have been aggressive marketing campaigns encouraging people to travel abroad – what should cruise lines, airlines and tour operators do? Encourage people to shun their 2 weeks in the sun for a damp weekend in Rhyl – sorry to my customers from Rhyl!

According to the Government there is a backlog of over 500.000 applications, although the Passport Office have denied this saying its a lot less, and is due to the fact there have been 300,000 more applications than in the same period last year. As usual, Unions blame Government cut backs and then some other Department blames another Department, so on and so on…….

But who gets stuck in the middle?  I will let you answer that for yourselves.

So my advice is get up, check your Passport and if it needs renewing, get it done today!
