Phwoar!! She’s a bit of alright – Part 2

So it’s been 2 weeks since my time on Britannia, and reading my colleagues and the main website, I think you must be all Britannia’d out?? Well tough luck I’m afraid, as I still need to talk about the food, drink entertainment and what we could see of the kids club.

Firstly food. Much hype and anticipation have been had over the subject of food on board Britannia, with the food heroes playing such a large part in the planning of the ship and the design of the dining areas, expectation was high.

The main Oriental and Meridian Restaurants.

We ate here both evenings and as usual the menu and the service did not disappoint, especially night 2 when we could order from Marco Pierre White’s menu. (Top Notch!!) We were on Anytime Dining, which I have never done before, but would certainly recommend. Whilst I know the ship was not at full capacity, they managed to accommodate our rather large group with ease and efficiency. Beautifully decorated, well organised and great food.

Horizons Buffet Restaurant.

Great selection on offer, and this is where we had breakfast both mornings. All of your usual suspects, bacon, sausages eggs anyway you want them. For those that are a little healthier, there was plenty of fruit, yogurts and cereals too. I also visited here after a boogie in the Live Lounge to find a lovely spread of sandwiches for those that enjoy a midnight snack.

The Lido Grill and Pizzeria.

Hot dogs, burgers and fries one side and fresh pizza the other. Exactly what it says on the tin. Although my hot dog was to crispy to eat, my burger was very good.

While we didn’t eat in any of the specialty restaurant, they were all very fresh and well planned. For such a large ship I felt the dining rooms were still lovely and intimate too.

Fine Dining Restaurant

Drinks are another important aspect of your cruise trip I feel, and the options on the Britannia are plentiful and reasonable. At £3.80-£3.90 for a pint of beer, £4-£6 per cocktail you could quite happily enjoy a few drinks without breaking the bank. The choice of bars is extensive too, we spent our evenings in Brodies (pub style bar) and then onto the Live Lounge (A bit more clubby) where the DJ was playing a vast array of music, ensuring a full dance floor.

Entertainment.

The theatre on Britannia is a traditional lay out with rows of seats as opposed to tables, which I liked. We watched sound of the underground on the 2nd night, which was great, the stage was very technical with interchanging screens and backdrops. There was Karaoke going on in Brodies after the show too as well as quizzes etc, there seemed to be something for everyone.

Kids clubs.

I wish I had some pictures of this, as I really feel this is going to make the Britannia a massive hit with families. We couldn’t go in because they actually had children in, but we walked from one end to the other, and it was huge!! With something for all ages and a lovely outdoor play and splash area. There was a nursery and an area for parents to play with their little ones as well as a room with game stations for the older kids. Of course it was all bright and airy too.

Overall Brit is a hit in my opinion.
