Super Bowl Chaos !!!!!!

Thousands of Passengers booked on the brand new Getaway have had their New Years plans, thrown into chaos this week, when NCL decided to cancel their 11-night Transatlantic crossing from Rotterdam in favour of providing accommodation and joining its sister ship the Breakway for Super Bowl 48 .

Norwegian Getaway is currently under construction in Germany, and will be based in Miami but it has been decided that it will  now head for New York for its maiden voyage next January. The new plan is for the Getaway to depart from Southampton and embark on a 10 night Transatlantic crossing carrying 4000 passengers to New York. It will  then be docked at Manhattan Piers from 29th January  to 3rd February , for The Super Bowl that takes place at New Jersey’s MetLife Stadium

Passenger who had already confirmed their holidays due to depart 1st Feb 2014, have automatically had their holidays transferred to the new sailing from Southampton, at a slightly lower fare and have been offered between $100-200 on board credit depending on their cabin grade. However Crane Gladding, senior vice president of passenger services as also advised that customers who do not wish to travel on this sailing or its not convenient may change to any other sailing from now until Dec 2014 on any available sailing throughout the fleet.

Private Charter s like this do not happen very often but its very easy to see why organisations such as those behind Super bowl and the winter Olympic would choose cruise lines to offer accommodations and fantastic facilities to their sporting audience. However I do think they should make these plans a lot earlier before passengers go to the trouble of booking their holidays only to be disappointed.
