Southampton Port in 2020…How Busy Will It Be?

Southampton cruise port is already the busiest cruise port in Europe and the 15th busiest cruise port in the World.  There are now more cruises than ever sailing from this popular port to meet the demands of passengers wanting the convenience of no fly cruising.

There are four terminals in total which serve the 1.7 million passengers who come to Southampton to sail to destinations around the world.

Due to the demand being so high the cruise lines are sailing many more ships from this port.  This is giving the customers more choice with destinations they wish to sail to.

2020 is already getting exciting in Southampton starting with the launch of the new P&O ship Iona which starts sailing in May 2020 from Southampton to the Norwegian Fjords for its inaugural season.

P&O and Princess are now on sale so this has prompted Royal Caribbean and Celebrity to bring their launch forward to get in early and not miss out on their share of the business out there.

Of course Royal Caribbean and Celebrity are pulling out all the stops to top the cruises sailing from this port.

On the 20th November Anthem of the Seas will go on sale for 2020 sailing from Southampton.  This has caused a lot of interest due to being one of the largest most modern ships in the fleet and I think this will prove even more popular with people than ever.

Celebrity have announced that their brand new ship Celebrity Apex, which is an Edge Class Ship and sister ship to the Celebrity Edge. will also be sailing out of Southampton in 2020. Celebrity Edge has been doing incredibly well for 2019 in the Mediterranean and even her higher prices have not put people off booking on her.  I have to admit she looks absolutely stunning.

Have you booked your 2020 voyage from Southampton yet or are you waiting on Celebrity and Royal Caribbean to release their itineraries?

If you are waiting on these two cruise lines please send me an email to [email protected] and I can arrange to get in touch with you to go through prices and itineraries.

I will be going on the P&O Iona in 2020 but I am hoping to also get on either the Apex or the Anthem Of The Seas but cannot decide which one!

Until next time…Happy Cruising

    • Hi John,

Marella will be sailing from Southampton in September and October 2020. Please email me at [email protected] if you require any further information

  1. Maybe cruise lines should consider other cruise terminals such as Liverpool to suit cruisers who live in the north of the country
