Can I watch the World Cup on my cruise?

Absolutely!

Princess Cruises became the latest line to announce it will broadcast all 64 games of the FIFA World Cup during the June 12 to July 13 tournament. The games may be seen on nine Princess ships at their Movies under the Stars screens.

The ships are Dawn Princess, Diamond Princess, Emerald Princess, Regal Princess, Royal Princess, Ruby Princess, Sapphire Princess, Sea Princess and Sun Princess.

Also offered on board will be themed entertainment and activities, including World Cup trivia, face painting of national flags and of course the opportunity to upgrade to all inclusive drinks packages.

With the announcement of the England world cup team yesterday I thought it would be good to see which cruise ships were screening the world cup matches.

Knowing how much the Brits love football, live, round-the-clock coverage will be available to all P&O and Cunard passengers on big screens. Cunard will screen the action in the popular Golden Lion pub and possibly in larger venues if interest builds. Yes I do think it will be popular!

MSC cruise will show every single game live on each of its 12 ships. Matches will be shown on big screens in the Sports Bar of MSC’s Fantasia-class ships and in selected bars on other ships.

Other events include a World Cup table-football competition, World Cup trivia quizzes, the chance to make your own shirt and raffles and drinks promotions themed around that day’s competing nations.

Costa, Depending on timings and the nations involved, matches on board Costa’s ships will be broadcast across a number of venues including the macrodome pool deck (which has a retractable roof), and in the main theatre. Themed activities and passengers will be encouraged to customise T-shirts and create team banners!

V’s

England can find out just what the World Cup means to their Italian rivals. England play Italy on 14 June, the 1st first Group D match! Very exciting!

Norwegian Cruise Lines will also screening the biggest matches fleet-wide and across multiple venues. They asked guests whether they wanted football on board this summer the answer was a resounding “yes”.

Royal Caribbean will broadcast the World Cup on board all of its 23 ships so there’s no chance of missing any of the 64 matches.

Celebrity is the same as Royal on its Alaska, Bermuda and Europe sailings… screening will be in bars and in cabins. They promise viewing parties and activities including football video games!

Ultra-luxury line Crystal will also screen key games in lounges and theatres on board its two ships, Crystal Serenity and Crystal Symphony. Guests cruising the Mediterranean and Northern Europe can also choose to watch the entire event from the privacy of their stateroom.

So for those that realise how hard it is to get commitment from the average football fan,  to any form of holiday during this four yearly event ……… dangle the carrot that he will still be able to see all the matches and you may still get that family holiday.

Will you be watching whist on a cruise this summer?

I would love to hear your thoughts..
