Is there a simple fool-proof guide to cruising for new to cruise ?

I recently saw an article posted on Travelzoo called “Non-cruisers guide to cruising” (click HERE to read).  I do like the idea of this guide but with so many different cruise ships and cruise lines about a description like “If you prefer to holiday with fellow Brits, P&O Cruises is just the ticket, or Fred. Olsen, Cruise & Maritime Voyages or Thomson Cruises if smaller ships appeal” is just way to broad a description in my mind.  When I read through the guide I understood what it was trying to achieve as it reminded me of a conversation I recently had with a client.

My client said that they wanted to cruise to celebrate their wedding anniversary but hadn’t cruised before.  He said that they had considered cruising in the previous year but decided to give it a miss as they found the whole experience of looking for a cruise a bit daunting with all of the information and terminology floating about.

I told my client that I remembered when I first started my job as a cruise specialist, there was so much information to take in, it was a bit of a brain pickle to be honest.  I explained that as a specialist cruise consultant I am here to make things easier and explain things in an easy to understand manner.

Now that I have been doing this job for years and have gained all of this experience things seems a lot more straight forward to me.  I explained to my client that it is my job to make sure that they clearly understand things and to make sense of it all.  My client sounded pleasantly surprised when I just went over everything with him in a clear and easy to understand manner.  Needless to say he soon afterwards went ahead and booked the cruise with me.

First time cruising doesn’t have to be daunting when there are friendly knowledgeable experts like me around to help make sense of everything.
