Holland America ammends their wine policy as a result of passenger pressure

This story is another example of the positive changes people power can bring.

Under 6 months ago Holland America cruise line announced that it would be bringing in a new policy that would come under enforcement from January 31st 2014.

This new policy would have limited passengers to bringing on just one bottle of wine to their cruise in their luggage which could be consumed in their stateroom at no charge, otherwise an $18 corkage fee.

A large amount of passengers have shown their unhappiness at this new policy and it seems that Holland America has listened to them and has said that it will now not bring in this new policy.

This will mean that passengers can now bring on in luggage and ports as much wine as they like.  The first bottle will not incur a corkage fee if consumed in the cabin, further bottles will incur the corkage fee of $18 per bottle though regardless of where they are consumed.

If people do not want to pay the corkage fee they can opt for the wine to be kept by security who will hand it back to them on the final evening of the cruise.

I personally think that this is great news, you can buy some quite reasonable wines for not too much in supermarkets and even paired with an $18 corkage fee they could be good value compared to some of the wines purchased on-board.

Well done to Holland America for listening to their passengers.
