Get to the Chopper

Before i start you read the title in your Arnie voice didn’t you?

Last September me and my Fiance managed to tick off two amazing cities off our bucket list. One of those cities was Las Vegas. I said to him ‘We aren’t going all that way if we can’t take the helicopter over the Grand Canyon’.

When the day finally arrived to get picked up from our hotel to be taken to Boulder City i can’t tell you how excited i was. We couldn’t stop smiling at each and jumping up at the site of a minibus every time one drove past.

It didn’t take more than half an hour drive from the Luxor Hotel down to Boulder City. The check in process is very quick and then we were asked to watch a 10 minute safety briefing for the flight. While we waited we watched out the window all the helicopters coming in to land and then watching the next one take off. We can’t have been waiting more than 20 minutes before they called our name for the flight.

We had a lovely pilot called Diane Dollars (honestly that was her name) she would stand near the helicopter with us to have our photo taken then we took our seats on the helicopter along with another couple in the back with us and a couple with a young baby in the front.

The helicopter started up and Diane lined up ready for take off. My feet were really tapping by this point i was so excited. The take off was incredible. I can’t describe the feeling you feel so maybe the video might give you an idea.

We had an hour taking in all the scenery of the Canyon. We flew past the Hoover Dam and covered the West Rim of the Canyon. The commentary was so interesting ad she didn’t talk too much either allowing you the time to just take it all in.

I welled up at the look on my fiances face i could see how happy he was and it made me appreciate the trip even more. This was worth every single penny.
