Another new ship for 2020

It seems Carnival Cruises are another cruise line getting a new ship for 2020.

They have named her the Mardi Gras. Not only are the paying homage to their name of their first ship launched back in 1972, the name also suggest a fun fueled holiday.

The Mardi Gras will have 6 themed zones full of new spots for eating, drinking and activities. The most thrilling of these is the first ever rollercoaster at sea, Bolt. Let’s take a look at these zones.

Grand Central – The Atrium of the Mardi Gras. Featuring floor to ceiling windows that really bring in the ocean views. Enjoy a coffee, live music on stage or a handcrafted cocktail. Also very close to dining spots such as Bonsai Sushi and Bonsai Teppanyaki, plus entertainment in the Piano Bar 88 or the Punchliner Comedy Club.

French Quarter – Inspired from New Orleans itself and lined with bars and eateries. Moments away from the entertainment including a hot jazz club. Not far away for more bars, lounges and funky shops.

Summer Landing – Considered the greatest chill spot at sea. Everyone knows the best way to chill outdoors is with a BBQ so Carnival have built Guy’s Pig and Anchor Smokehouse|Brewhouse in this zone.

La Piazza – This zone stands for flavor, and it starts with Cucina del Capitano, which brings your party together for an evening of Italian favorites served family-style. And if that’s not enough, Pizzeria del Capitano is 24 hours. I do love my Italian food. Roaming musicians provide an authentic soundtrack to your time in La Piazza. This ship is also debuting a new Mediterranean spot specializing in seafood, and a bar serving authentic espresso drinks during the day and classic Italian cocktails by night.

Lido – Expect tons of casual hot spots. Take in a Dive-In movie at the pool or enjoy a signature favorite from Guy’s burger joint, the New England-inspired Seafood Shack and BlueIguana Cantina taco. And not forgetting Swirls for free ice cream 24 hours a day.

The Ultimate Playground – Not just for kids, this are is fun for all ages. Here is where you will find Bolt, the first rollercoaster at sea. But that’s only the beginning, this playground has the largest Carnival WaterWorks ever with three huge spiraling slides, plus SportSquare is here featuring an entire mini-golf course, full-court basketball and a ropes course.

More details still to come but this ship already sounds very exciting. she has some great itineraries planned. Click here to see a sample. I like the look of the Niagara Falls & The Big Apple on Brand-New Mardi Gras from Southampton.

What do you think to the Mardi Gras so far? Does she float your boat?
