Grand Slam 2019!

As you are probably aware, if you follow my blog, I am a bit of a rugby fan lol.  And as you can imagine and have probably heard, Wales won the Grand Slam.  Now it wasn’t all plain sailing, and to be honest after the 1st game against France and certainly, after the second game against Italy, I thought we were going to lose it.  But as we know, the Welsh boys don’t give up that easily, and certainly, put on a performance against England (sorry), but the highlight for me was the Irish game!

If you followed the 6 Nations across the whole tournament, you would have seen that England had also had a stormer of a tournament, albeit losing to Wales, and they had gained a few Bonus Point wins, this left Wales needing to beat Ireland and the title was theirs, anything less and it was England’s! Thankfully, they put on a masterful display and won the title.

I know Wales won the last Grand Slam in 2013, so it is a long time to wait, but this one just seemed more important to me, I think it is because my Bampa, who passed away 2 years this year, always loved the games, and we used to always shout at the TV together, and he always said they would do it again, they just needed the right team.  It makes it even more special, is that Alun Wyn Jones was captain for this campaign.  The man is a national treasure, to be honest, and it will be a sad day when he does retire, but when he was younger, my Bampa used to coach him at Bonymaen (my Bampa’s lifelong club), so it just makes it that little bit more special, knowing that my Bampa coached the Wales captain.

Anyway, enough with the celebrating, there is a World Cup to be won this year! (wishful thinking).  Keep an eye out for my next blog as I will be telling you all about my recent River Cruise with Titan Travel!
