1st Girls Holiday!

It might surprise you to find out that at the tender age of 31, I have recently returned from my first girls holiday!  I know, I know, I should have “maximised my youth” and gone on a few 18-30 holidays, but it never interested me.  I always holidayed with partners or family.  It came into talks regarding “rugby tour”, for anyone that associates with rugby know that a “tour” is a must after a long hard season.  Our season lasted a bit longer this year due to ongoing games, so it was hard to pinpoint a date/destination for 25 girls, so in the end 5 of us went to Portugal, and I must say, it left me wanting to go on another one with the group!

We started out really early in the morning on Friday 31st May and boarded our flight to Faro.  Now as seasoned travellers, you know an “airport pint” is a must.  Upon arriving at our hotel, we were allowed to use the facilities of the hotel as our rooms were not ready as yet.  Now I know what you are thinking, it was a mad holiday with drinking all day and causing mayhem at night.  In this case, it wasn’t us.  We were just after a chilled weekend after a long season and it was good to just unwind with good friends and good weather.  And good weather we had, turned out it, Portugal was having a heatwave so we were basking in 30 degrees temperatures all day and still really warm in the evening.  We were in the new part of Albufeira so were quite close to the strip, but we did venture to the Old Town, which we all agreed was much better and more our scene.  Our hotel was right on the beach as well, so it was truly a perfect scene.

Have you ever been on a girls or boys holiday?  If not, find some good friends, good settings, and amazing atmosphere and you won’t be disappointed – we were even looking at going again on the minibus home – if a flying holiday isn’t up your street – why not consider a mini-cruise?  With 2-5 night sailings available from Southampton, a friends holiday is never an impossible task!
