1500 Miles later.. and we are back!

We are back from our road trip to Scotland and we had such an amazing time! Minus listening to baby shark for 70% of the journey!

We set off Friday morning and our first stop off on our journey was Howgills Hideaway Glamping pods between the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales – would recommend if you haven’t done this already! We were so gutted it was raining and foggy on our arrival meaning we couldn’t see the wonderful scenery or roast our marshmallows on the fire! Gutted! We opted to make a lovely home cooked dinner in our little pod and watch a film for the night.

When we woke up the next day the fog and the rain had cleared so we could finally take in the beautiful scenery before leaving to head to Scotland. We had a lovely little breakfast basket delivered to our pod which was a lovely touch.

We packed our bags up and headed for Falkland in Fife. Our journey didn’t take too long and as soon as we arrived, I immediately dragged my other half to go and see the town where they filmed Outlander and roped him into being my photographer for the day. Not impressed at all. After an afternoon spent walking, we spent the evening in a lovely pub for dinner and drinks with some of the locals.

The next day we woke up bright and early and got on the road to Inverness. Our first port of call was to go and visit the Culloden battlefield. We didn’t check what the weather was up to at this point, so we got soaked in the wind and rain! Thank god we took our buggy rain cover for our little boy!

Headed back into Inverness for some shopping and some dinner! We went and got my little boy his first pair of trainers because he is officially walking! After dinner we headed back to the hotel to take some glorious pictures on the Titanic staircase and have some chill time before heading to the Isle of Skye the next day.

Day 3 and we were on our way to the Isle of Skye – heading for the dreaded Shepard’s Hut with NO TOILET OR SHOWER! When we arrived once again the wind and rain prevailed and gave us no option but to get cosy in our shepherd’s hut, we got the open fire going and relaxed for a few hours. We were recommended to go for dinner at the Uig hotel – this hotel was amazing; had brilliant views and the best food I have had since arriving in Scotland! Another good recommendation. The Shepard’s hut was a great experience but probably wouldn’t do that again in a hurry!

Day 4 to be continued….
