Viva Las Vegas

By the time you read this, I will be in this fantastic city. I have been a few times to Vegas and never get bored by it, there is so much to do and see.

For those of you who have never been I urge you to try it.  The main part of Vegas is really just one big street, otherwise known as the “strip.”  All along the stip you have these fantastic hotels, and within every single hotel there are so many things to see. For example where I am staying, the Venetian hotel there is a full blown St Mark’s Square with shops and restaurants or you can ride in a gondola through the hotel, and outside! Or why don’t you visit the Luxor hotel, which is built like a pyramid and at night has this light shining from the top – you can see it from space, so they say.  If your a roller coaster fan you can visit the Stratosphere hotel and plunge 27 feet over the tower edge – em no thanks!

Let us not forget the fantastic botanical gardens in the Bellagio, then stop and watch the lovely fountains outside or better still go across the road to the Paris hotel, have a coffee and see them from there, the list is endless.   Further afield you have of course the Grand Canyon which you can reach by plane or helicopter. My personal recommendation though would be to go by helicopter – much better. Once your there you will be blown away by how vast the area is. On the way home you fly over Lake Mead and then the strip – which is even better lit up at night.

Of course Vegas is really synonymous with gambling. These casinos are vast! From the private rooms which deal with millions of dollars to the slot machines, you cant fail to try your luck at some point!

If you are thinking of cruising from Los Angeles, then why not try and combine a short stay in Vegas before hand? Or you could do the “golden triangle” which is Vegas, San Francisco and Los Angeles – then join a cruise. Cruise lines to look out for would be Carnival, Princess and NCL.  We have a lovely “tailor made” cruise at the moment with Princess which combines 3 nights in Vegas, 2 nights in Beverley Hills and then join the Crown Princess for 7 nights, cruising the Mexican Riviera – now that is a good one as Beverley Hills is rather nice too!

I know I am a “states  fanatic” but in all honesty I do not think you can come away from Vegas without some fantastic memory – why don’t you try it? You wont be disappointed.

Cheers!
