Ship Activities and Passenger Perks!

In the race for cruise ships to offer the most unusual features at sea, rock climbing, miniature golf and giant outdoor movie screens have already become commonplace.  Here are a few of my own personal favourites.

The Aquaduck water flume ride could belong in a water park.  Passengers board a two person inflatable raft and get swept away on a speedy trip around the perimeter of the ship’s top deck. The ride takes you 13 feet out over the ocean inside a transparent flume – 150 feet above the sea!  This fantastic ride is available on the Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy ships.

The Svedka Ice bar on the Norwegian Epic is very cool, 17 degrees below zero to be exact!  This is inspired by the land based ice bars in Scandinavia, this sea going version comes complete with furniture made from chunks of ice!  You even get warm coats and gloves at the door!

The lawn clubs are available on the Celebrity Solstice ships.  This is half an acre of real grass growing a dozen decks above the sea.  Passengers can relax and enjoy a picnic,  a game of croquet or golf putting.

The Blue Man Group performs on the Norwegian Epic. The show lasts for 75 minutes and is unlike any other show I have experienced. It is completely silent, the only communication is through eye contact, gestures, drumming, videography and audience participation.  If you are on this ship, do not miss out!

The sky course on the Carnival Breeze and Magic is great fun. It is the focal point of the sport’s square fitness area.  Strap a harness on and swing your way along the challenging course. Views are to die for, look down at the sea, 150 feet below!

The planetarium on Cunard’s Queen Mary 2 is the only planetarium at sea. If you wanted to while away a hour or so, then I would recommend this.

Lastly I could not miss out the fantastic North Star which are on Quantum Of The Seas and Anthem Of The Seas.   The north star will elevate guests 300 feet above sea level.  It is situated on the top deck towards the bow of the ship.  What fantastic views of the ocean this must have!  Have fun!

I am sure you all have your own personal favourites, let me know what they are!
