If Only We could Win The Lottery….. Or Not?

You all love to cruise.  Do you love it that much that you could live on a ship?  Did you know there is a luxury vessel with 165 apartments which sails around the world non stop?

It is called “the world”and is billed as the only private residential community-at-sea, with its suites owned by 130 families.  This 12 deck ship boasts the only full size tennis court at sea, a 7000 square foot spa and fitness centre, swimming pools, 6 restaurants, multiple bars, a tea room, library and cinema.  At 644 ft this luxury liner sails to some of the most exotic and remote locations on earth.

Guests can spend as long as they want on board, with the average owner spending three to six months.  It is the only way to sail around the world without ever leaving the comforts of home but it doesn’t come cheap!  With studio flats selling for more then USD 1 million (£660,000) and the top suites costing up to USD 13 million (£8.5 million)!!  There is such demand for each exclusive piece of real estate that there is a waiting list for certain room sizes, including 3 bedroom flats and a 6 bedroom penthouse!

Since this ship launched in 2002 it has visited more then 900 ports in more then 140 countries, whilst sailing at a maximum speed of 18.5 knots.  So where is it now?  Well, it sailed from Singapore, toured south east Asia before visiting the Maldives and the Seychelles. It eventually arrives in Southampton in August before going to Fowey in Cornwall and from there – well the world is it’s oyster after all!

Do you think you could do this if you had the money? Would life not be a little on the boring side? I would be interested to hear your views.
