2015 Destination Trends

I am sure many of you would agree the main reason you book a particular cruise is for the itinerary, usually picking somewhere you have not been before.  A recent report has highlighted the main destination trends for 2015, makes interesting reading.

The Maldives are coming in as one of the main destinations people want to travel too. The report shows that Dubai and UAE are growing rapidly hence more and more cruises either depart from here or stop off for a longer time. Thailand is still popular, as well as Sri Lanka, USA, Mauritius, Cuba, Antigua, Singapore and Barbados.  It is not surprising to see the Caribbean Islands are popular. Cuba is an interesting one as most of the cruise lines are US owned they are naturally not allowed to visit, however you still can with Fred Olsen or Thomson cruises.

The Indian Ocean , taking in the Maldives and the Seychelles are always a popular choice. Nice to see that Regent Seven Seas, Azamara and Oceania cruises do stop off there.  The far east has long been popular, there is so much to see, culture, scenery , great beaches, amazing people.  Vietnam is one of the destinations I would like to visit as well as the lesser known Cambodia.  Don’t forget you can also visit these destinations on a river cruise up the Mekong and combine that with a stay in Ho Chi Minh city (Saigon) or  Angkor Wat.

The USA is still one of those destinations that people go to time and time again. I am a huge lover of this country. Apart from the usual Alaskan cruises and cruising to the Caribbean from Florida, you can cruise from New York up to the eastern seaboard of Canada and take in places like Nova Scotia, Montreal and Quebec. Mississippi river cruising is also very popular.

Lastly, let’s not forget Burma. Following the lifting of Western sanctions, Burma (Myanmar) has become a magnet for tourists. The country has some wondrous sights, temples, floating gardens, and majestic rivers. You can now cruise down the Ayeyarwady river and see a country where the 21st century has barely intruded.  I wonder if this majestic country will be on the new destination trends for 2016?

Where in the world do you desire to go to?
