P&O Oriana to say Farewell in 2019

P&O has announced that their much loved traditional ship Oriana will be leaving the fleet in 2019. Oriana has been an original and very much loved ship of the fleet. I know a few of my regular customers will be sad to see her go.

P&O will now concentrate on their mid-range and large ships before the much-anticipated arrival of their new ship the IONA in 2020 and they will also be getting another new ship in 2022.

Oriana’s departure next August will leave the Adonia and soon to be Adult only Aurora, as the Adult focussed ships.

Aurora will be refitted next year, before its launch of an adult only ship.  There will be new cabins added and a refit of fixtures and fittings and small upgrades throughout the ship.

P&O have confirmed that they will be concentrating on investing in dining, entertainment and shore excursions for the remainder of the fleet in 2019. Personally, I think this will be welcomed by guests, with the introduction of bigger and better ships and more up to date technology on board, Cruise lines must feel the pressure to keep on top of things and not become stale.

I am looking forward to seeing what the new excursions may be, over the recent years I have seen a great improvement with excursions and with regular cruisers this is key as they generally see the same places multiple times.

Every year becomes exciting for the world of cruising, it may be out with the old and in with the new but it’s exciting to watch it all happen.
