Birthday Surprise to the Sunshine

There is nothing wrong with getting older and even better when you can celebrate in the sunshine with the people you love, a few cocktails and the sand between your toes at a beach bar !!

This year I was treated by my son to a trip to the very hot & sunny Costa Del Sol, with my partner and my mum. We left on my birthday at 4.30am on the Sunday Morning and upon arrival at the airport I was greeted by lots of balloons and presents and even a cake – Thanks Conor x  (Which I didn’t eat – gutted, you can tell it was early!!) Not one to normally shy of eating cake!

At one point we thought everything was going to go wrong when we were told that the flight from the previous day had been cancelled so they were taking those people and we had to fly at 9.35pm 🙁 .. Not a good first impression of Primera Air and as people lined up for their drinks and food vouchers from a rep, we stayed in the queue and after finally reaching the front they checked us in for the 7 am flight as they had spaces YEHHH thanks Primera All was forgiven,  phew, birthday celebrations back on !! Only my mum & I managed to stay awake on the flight for our daily chat and gin and tonic of course. Obviously, an 8 am drink was only cause it was my birthday 😉

We were staying in a place called Cabopino on the Costa Del Sol where my family own a mobile home. Only a 25 min taxi ride from Malaga Airport and we dropped our bags and made our way to Andy’s Beach Bar. The atmosphere here is always great, fantastic service and food and drinks in abundance.. Starting on the jugs of Sangria, I couldn’t have wished for a better birthday. (maybe its because I am getting older but there seems to be a lot of alcohol involved in my life) 🙂

Had a great day making new friends and celebrating my one year older in the sunshine.  Topping that day would be hard and probably the only way to top it was in style by going to one of my favourite places in the world !! Puerto Banus. I love it there, its a place for me NOT because I can afford to be one of the beautiful people with their boats and fast cars … but I am an expert people watcher and I am happy being just that !!

A definite place to go to is the Astral Cocktail Bar. You will be spoiled for choice so may have to try more than one!!, oh there I go again .. well it was my birthday!!

It was just a 3-night break that was just what the doctor ordered and as I have said in previous blogs just going away for a few days can make you feel refreshed. I will be definitely having a few more of those.., maybe next time with less alcohol 😉
