Do You Wish You Were Here?

Love it or hate it, use it or avoid it,  Social Media is here to stay.

When your friends don’t reply to your text you can greet them on Facebook. When you want to listen to music or see a music video from your favorite singer  go to YouTube. When you just wake up and open your eyes you don’t have to walk outside to get the newspaper just take yourphone and scroll your Twitter timeline for up to the minute news feed

Blog and Forum are also types of social media because they allow you to share “what you think” about articles, pictures, videos and so on, from Facebook to Google Plus, Twitter and Instagram, all of these platforms have been a fantastic real-time way to stay in touch with friends and family wherever we are and what ever we are doing.

Social media helps us stay connected and updated on current events and communicate with people around the world.

A new concept has been launched that combines GPS ship tracking with social media and traditional email updates to let you share your cruise with family and friends. It is simple to use, lots of fun and free!

The CruiseTraka service is now available on selected cruises and lets your friends follow your ship as you go cruising!

During your cruise you can let your friends see where your ship is located and the exciting ports that you are visiting

When your ship reaches a new port on your itinerary you can even have updates automatically sent to your selected social media accounts or friend’s email addresses.

CruiseTraka is a great way to let your friends and family follow the progress of your cruise.

The service also includes a fantastic online photo album that you may choose to use.  The “My Travel Album” features an interactive travel map showing the path taken by your ship and the highlights along the way.  You can easily add your photos to the map to save your memories and share your journey with your friends.

You may opt-in to this service on selected cruises – it’s absolutely free, entirely automated and you don’t have to do a thing while enjoying your cruise.

CruiseTraka is provided by an Australian company called TrekTrakka and all of your details are kept safe and secure

There is more info about it here http://www.cruise.co.uk/traka-overview/  (including a video)

It is incredibly simple to log in and use and is an exciting way to stay in touch and is certainly an alternative to sending a postcard!

What do you think? Will you give it a try on your next cruise?
