Rickshaws in Gran Canaria !

Having just visited Gran Canaria I wanted to tell you about a new a new company called the green line. Their Rickshaws ( small motorised open vehicles) can take up to 6 people and the cost goes down the more you have in it. As you leave the port and walk towards the town, you will see them lined up.

For a more personal look at the town and outskirts this was fantastic. Our young driver was called Jose and he knew everywhere to take us to get the best views and talked us round the town, pointing out the markets and museums. The usual hop on hop off bus was there but for the same price we saw so much more of the old town roads and views inaccessible by the bus.

They have only been running for 6 months , and I have to say doing a mighty fine job. You can book a slot and then do what we did and have a look around the town, fabulous shops and cafes a plenty.

As you can see fantastic out of the way beaches and stunning scenery, me and my friends had a fab time riding around seeing the sites.

In the north of the Island is where you will dock, capital city Las Palmas. Which is the major stop for cruise ships and duty-free shopping. Be careful of the times, as some of  the shops do close at 1.30pm and some do not reopen, much to my husbands disgust, as he had seen a shirt he wanted and it was closed when we went back and didn’t re open until Monday. (we did arrive on a Saturday).

There is a wonderful shopping centre and a shop I love called Ale-Hop. They are open all day. The museum near the centre of the town is called the ” Museo Elder de la Ciencia y la Tecnologia ”, basically Science and Tecnology, this is for young and old and has loads to see. Quite cheap to get in too. It also has interactive things which make it more fun than just looking at objects. From interactive plane rides to rockets to Apes , this museum has it all.

I feel we would like to go back again to visit places we didn’t see, so looking forward to my next canaries cruise.
