Madeira wow Island !!

Madeira has definitely got the wow factor, As you will have guested I have just completed my first Canary Island cruise. We had the best time,. Luckily for me as I had never been there before Madeira was first port of call.

What a stunning Island, We disembarked about 9am and made our way to the hop on hop off bus. I had booked the tickets before we went that included both routes.

The Red route took us through the town and up into the mountains to see the most spectacular views of this very green lush Island.

Every where there are Banana trees growing , even in peoples gardens, thousands off them , the minions would love it here , ha ha !

When we got as high as the bus went we transferred to a small road train, which then continues up to the highest point called the Skywalk in the Cabo Girao region. Cabo Girão is the second highest sea cliff in the world, with 580 metres above the sea level, the views here are breathtaking.

The view from the sky walk taken by my Husband !

Have to say I was a complete chicken and had my eyes closed most of the way up there as extreme drops on either side as the train winds its way up the mountain. I am sorry to say I then stayed in the beautiful gardens and struck up a friendship with the lizards as the others checked out the view. There were loads of them and quite tame.

we then had a fantastic lunch in the beautiful harbour town of  Câmara de Lobos , this is the small fishing village, where we caught the train and hopped back on the red route bus.

My husband checked out the Ronaldo museum , but afraid I still havent forgiven him for his fake fall against us.

On our way back down , we joined the blue route that takes you up to where the toboggan ride is and you can also go as high as the cable car. My friends and I were not brave enough to try the toboggan run down the roads back to Funchal, but got a cheeky snap from the port instead.

Then we boarded the ship for tea, After that we caught the free shuttle into Madeira to experience by night. We were lucky enough to have an overnight in this beautiful place. We had a lovely walk through the town to the harbour where we caught a fabulous picture of Azura by night, and then sipped cocktails in one of the harbour bars.

The next morning we watched as Madeira got smaller and smaller from the pool on the rear of the ship.
