”Brunch” on Board Azura – New Concept!

”Brunch” on board Azura?? Have you tried it, I think not this is a whole new concept for the P and O fleet. Wow what a wonderful experience. It was that good they had to run it 2 days instead of just the one they were planning. So what exactly was it ? Well first of all we went to the Meridien restaurant for 11am, (normally closed at lunch time) and were shown to tables to enjoy a lovely glass of champagne,while the the officer in charge of the food and beverage talked us through what was going to happen. Brunch is breakfast and Lunch , so the champagne was breakfast and the lunch was all the wonderful food after the tour of the kitchens.

This was our chance to see behind the scenes inside the kitchens that produce the wonderful masterpieces that are our meals on board.

First we had a look round the different departments, the head Baker showed us a fab machine for making bread buns, and the wonderful pastry chef , demonstrated the fantastic designs on our desert plates. The dish washer got the best laugh ,(I think every man said he wanted one and every women said why when we have you honey !!)

Then we were shown back to our tables were the wine flowed freely and the starters were amazing, we collected ourselves from the kitchens.(I am sure I tried everything !).

After the starters we were off again to get the main course following exactly as the waiters would, great fun shouting at the chefs -”steak rare please”

Then the magic really happened as we were treated to a wide selection of special deserts, (including Banana Split my favourite, chocolate covered strawberries and meringue hearts ),they insisted we try everything! Honest!!

After all that at least we didn’t have to wash up !! and all the chefs came out to see us. we had a fabulous afternoon. and was well worth the charge.
