SUPERSIZE V’S SUPERSMALL

————————AZAMARA ——————————

Occupancy;  694 ( Double Occupancy)

SMALL SHIPS.

Good Points

Azamara Is intimate I have been on a lot of ships over the years and I do enjoy being on a smaller ship as well as finding your way around much easier its quite common to “bump into” your new found friends who seem to be around every corner.

You don’t have huge queues at dinner either and the service is much more personal, its very easy to make friends with the staff, I have always found on the smaller ships the staff seem to have worked there for years so I think that tells you something, dining rooms are much quieter too.

One of the most important reasons why a small ship is so popular is it can pull into all of the smaller ports, for example in Alaska, you will be able get much closer to the important glaciers and have  a much better chance of seeing the wonderful wildlife so  the smaller the ship the better.

Down Side

Of course as the ships are smaller the entertainment is much more  low key which is popular with the more experienced traveller, you quite often find the seasoned traveller no longer wants nightclubs and casino’s they just want a comfy pair of slippers cruise with no Rock Climbing just good food nice friends and beautiful scenery.

—————OASIS OF THE SEA—————

GUEST CAPACITY – 5600 passengers.

SUPERSIZE SHIPS.

Good Points

The biggies have more bells and whistles on them, Oasis of the sea for example is like a large resort or shopping mall which does please some people. It does mean more stability certainly. The facilities on board are stunning and cater for every single taste (more or less) from Billiard Tables  to Ice Skating to Zip Wire. If your of a young mind you will love it. Multiple dining options on board it will not fail to impress. The standard of entertainment on board is second to none with a never ending amount of bars & lounges to sample.

Down Side

As the super size liners are so big disembarkation day can be a bit of a headache  it would be like a mass exodus, not too dissimilar to Old Trafford on a Saturday afternoon. Not to mention trying to manage your luggage trying to get an elevator may be a bit of a problem too. Due to the size of these vessels it may take a week or so to find your way around so be warned !!!
